President's Message |
Are you still on track with your New Year's resolutions? More often than not, the start of a "New Year" signals a new beginning for us. As we look back on last year's successes and failures , we resolve to make this coming year the best ever. While we continue to look ahead to our bigger goals, we need to remember that our journey began with the small steps we've already taken. Our chapter has been successful this year because all of our board members took "small steps" and contributed their talents last year . Our student chapter at Grand Valley State University started last year and continues to flourish and grow. Our very successful Student Night, scheduled for February 15 this year, started several years ago through the joint efforts of the IMA (Thank you, Todd!) and the Institute of Internal Auditors. Last year, 165 students and 10 companies signed up to participate in this event. This year, we are pleased to have as our speaker for Student Night, the President of IMA National, Sandy Richtermeyer. In addition to the evening event, Sandy will meet with our student chapter and our chapter members for lunch. In our current economy, how do companies maintain their profitability and their talent? In March, Beth Kelly, partner at Connectsource, will offer her insights on finding solutions that work for employees and their companies in a fluctuating economy. In April, John Bissa & Julie Boudro, from Plante Moran will update us on the new Sharepoint Technology. As you think about your New Year's resolution, remember that everything starts with "small steps". Being an active member of a professional organization is one "small step " that will help you to build your professional network Visit our website regularly, and send your board members your suggestions to make this year the best ever! See you at the meetings. Carol VanDyke Chapter President 2010-2011
