Jim Gorka, Kalamazoo County

Office of Emergency Management

Jim Gorka, Planner in Kalamazoo County’s Office of Emergency Management, is going to include the following topics in his presentation:

  • Business Continuity ~ Private Sector vs. Public Sector
  • All Hazard Planning and Development
  • Who should Respond and When
  • Critical Involvement by Whom
  • Chain of Command

 The OEM is responsible for developing and coordinating the planning, training, and exercise activities which support the Target Capabilities List (TCL) adopted by the State of Michigan in support of the National Preparedness Guidelines established by the President and Congress.  One of Jim’s most recent projects involved the development of an all-hazard Kalamazoo County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Jim has a BA in Business Administration and enjoyed a 30-year career with Eaton Corp., where he held leadership positions influencing the implementation of ISO 9000, Six Sigma, threat and risk assessments, and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award program.
