Welcome to the Michiana Chapter of IMA

President's Letter:

At the beginning of the year as all President's do I set a few goals for the year. The biggest of which was to come up with something that would both honor our students and help them further their knowledge and career advancement. After hearing so much about the National Student Conference I decided the best way to do that was to have a conference of our own because most of our Students can not afford to go to the National Conference. I relayed my idea to Brenda Engel and Jenni Mistich who together started the process of planning the event. I did not realize when I proposed the idea what a large undertaking this was going to be. Jenni left the area, and so Brenda & I pressed on trying our best to make this happen. Well I am very please to announce that it IS going to happen on March 16th. If you follow the link to the left it will take you to the information page for the Conference and the Registration page. I would like to thank the IT students at Brown Mackie college for the site design, but more importantly I would like to send a debt of gratitude to Lee Bennett, the IMA Michigan Council Webmaster, for his time and energy at getting the site up and running. We could not have done this without him. I also wanted to send my condolences to the family of Harlan Mettler. Harlan was a big part of the Michiana Chapter for many years and he will be missed. In memory of Harlan we have decided to honor his memory by dedicating the first Student Conference to him as well as establishing a scholarship in his memory so that Students who can not afford to attend our Student Conference will be able to attend now and in the future.
