President's Message:  John Engel, Council President 2013-2014

Several years ago my chapter, the Michiana Chapter, had to make a decision about Council affiliation.  We had been part of the Lincoln Trail Council since its inception, but meeting proximity and other considerations prompted our Chapter to investigate the possibility of changing Council affiliation.  We contacted the board of the IMA Michigan Council and together we formed a special bond that allowed the Michiana Chapter join the Michigan Council.  We could not be happier that we made that decision.  As I become your president, I bring experience from my time as President of the Lincoln Trail Council, as well as, time spent on the IMA Global Board of Directors.  More importantly I bring the desire to continue the tradition that has brought the Michigan Regional Council the Council Award of Excellence for 16 consecutive years.  We have started the planning process for another great year including the Annual Fall Conference for which our speaker line-up is almost complete.  The Michigan Council looks forward to continued support of our chapters and their members.  It truly is an honor to serve all of you as Council President for the 2013-2014 program year and I look forward to working with you this year too!  Thanks for helping to further the advancement of our profession through your membership and active participation in IMA Chapter and Council Events and the various leadership roles you may serve in.
